Reasons Women Explore Breast Enhancement

There are many personal reasons that women explore breast enhancement — a desire for larger breasts, to restore pre-pregnancy volume, or to just return to a more youthful appearance. A woman's satisfaction with the shape and size of her breast can help define her self image. Having a positive body image is important. Many women who experience breast augmentation are more confident in their body posture more comfortable in the way they look in their clothing, and can have a better quality of life.

An ideal candidate for breast augmentation is a woman who has specific concerns regarding the size and shape of her breast, and realistic expectations regarding her results. Equally important is that she is well informed and educated on the changes she is making on her breast size; and that the decision is self motivated, non impulsive or pressured by her partner.

When choosing an implant size, many factors such as body type and shape come into play. Proportional body measurements should be taken into account to achieve a total body balance. Breast augmentation not only is about a larger cup size, it is about enhancing the aesthetics, beauty of the breast, and body as a whole.

Breast Augmentation uses breast implants which are either filled with a saline solution or silicone gel. Saline implants are most commonly used as the use of silicone implants has been restricted. This is because the rupture of a silicone implant may release the silicone material into the body's tissues which is a significant health concern. If saline implants rupture, the saline solution is harmlessly reabsorbed into the body and the implant can be replaced.

Be sure to consult with your chosen plastic surgeon and have all your questions answered regarding the surgery procedure and traveling. Unlike days past when only the rich and famous consulted plastic surgeons across the country - and even the world - patients now are willing to travel beyond their local communities to find the plastic surgeon that best meets their needs. With the advent of the internet, that world has now become smaller and the idea of traveling for plastic surgery is no longer considered unusual. Today's Plastic Surgeons understand the commitment to having plastic surgery in the first place, let alone the added burden of travel, and also realize that in the end, giving you the result that you desire is well worth the journey – and results that will last a lifetime.

Traveling longer distances for a plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure is becoming more common place in modern society. The desire and need to find the right 'fit' for patients and plastic surgeons has become increasingly important both to the success of surgery procedures that must be performed by specialists in their field, such as Breast Reconstruction, reconstructive surgery such as rhinoplasty(nose surgery) to correct a breathing problem, and more.

When one considers traveling for plastic surgery, he/she should always to their homework and research the procedure, and how traveling can promote healing, or can pose potential risks that would not be normally associated with having a surgery procedure locally. One should also consider the costs associated with traveling, lodging, post operative care and follow up visits with the surgeon. Check with your chosen surgeon to see what assistance the Doctor and his/her staff offer regarding travel accommodations, including lodging, flight booking, and post operative care.

These days most surgeons that treat patients from outside their local area also offer services to help with booking flights, providing lodging information and even helping you do the footwork, helping you with all aspect of traveling to another area to have a plastic surgery procedure.

Be sure to consult with your chosen surgeon and have all your questions answered regarding the surgery procedure and traveling. Who Wouldn't Want The Perfect Nose?

It happens to all of us. At least once, sometime in every one's life, we take that long, critical gaze in the mirror. We subject ourselves to self criticism over every feature about our faces and bodies that we do not like. A common feature a large number of men and women alike seem to dislike is their nose. Nasal Reshaping surgery or Rhinoplasty is one of the most commonly performed cosmetic procedures.

In fact Rhinoplasty has been around for a long time- dating back to around 500 BC. Rhinoplasty was used to reconstruct noses that were amputated as punishment and for crimes. Fast forward tot he current day, Rhinoplasty has taken on more of a cosmetic role, even though a large number of patients have this surgery for reconstruction purposes, having a better looking nose that is more proportionate to one's facial features has become a very popular reason to undergo this cosmetic surgery procedure.

Over the years, different techniques have been developed, refined and improved. These improvements make the surgery very safe if performed by an experienced, skilled and well trained surgeon. However, as with all surgery procedures, there is a level of rick and one should make sure he/she does complete and in depth research to make sure he/she understands the procedure, the techniques and the risks involved. Just as important is locating and then consulting with a board certified plastic surgeon prior to having rhinoplasty surgery. There are several websites on the internet that contain good plastic surgery information. One website in particular is lookingyourbest.com. The site boasts an extensive resource library about every aspect of plastic and cosmetic surgery, including news, procedure information and more. They even offer a free service to assist you in locating a skilled experienced surgeon in your area.

The Basics Of Breast Enhancement Surgery

There have been varying viewpoints throughout the years about the best kind of implant to use for Breast Augmentation, and health controversies about one kind of implant that dominated news reports in the 1990's. Many women who were interested in having fuller breasts were fearful to do so because of these reports. The following describes the different kinds of implants that are available, and addresses some of the concerns regarding differences between breast implant fill material, shape, surface texture, size, manufacture, and use of implants.

While there are a number of implants available for Breast Augmentation, currently the most commonly used is the saline breast implant. The saline implant has an exterior sack made of solid silicone, which is filled with a sterile saline solution — like the salt-water solution that is administered for intravenous fluids. One of the advantages of this solution is its safety. Should the implant for some reason leak, the saline just gets absorbed by your body, as would the intravenous fluids used during, and after surgery. Yet another advantage of the saline implants is a very low infection rate, which is usually less than one to two percent.

As with any surgical procedure, it is imperative that you consult with an experienced specialist such as Southern California Plastic Surgeon Dr Michael Schwartz prior to the surgery. Be sure to have all your questions answered and you fully understand your chosen procedure BEFORE you have it. Proper research and education and mean the difference between a night mare and a successful surgery.

The Latest News from the World of Plastic Surgery

While surfing the internet and reading news stories, I found these plastic surgery news items and thought I would discuss them a bit here:

The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery has just recently released statistics that show Breast Augmentation Surgery has surpassed Liposuction becoming the most popular plastic surgery procedure in the U.S. More than 350,000 Breast Implant surgeries were performed in 2008. The gain in popularity is no doubt related to the the FDA allowing Doctors and surgeons to use silicone implants in breast surgery.

As more and more women are losing significant amounts of weight, many of these women are also electing to have Breast Enlargement Surgery. This trend seems to be strong in Houston Texas. After massive weight loss, it is common to see women having breast implant surgery to restore lost breast volume. Houston Plastic Surgeon Dr Bruce Smith is also seeing this trend with his patients.

BOTOX® is the most common minimally invasive cosmetic procedure with 3.8 million treatments in the U.S. in 2005. Botox works by improving the appearance of wrinkles in the face that are caused by muscle contraction. There is no down time required for a Botox injection. It is relatively painless and results are apparent within a few days. The effects of Botox typically last approximately four months.

    Anatomy of a Breast Augmentation

A breast implant is a silicone shell filled with either silicone gel or a salt-water solution known as saline. Because of concerns that there is insufficient information demonstrating the safety of silicone gel-filled breast implants, the Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has determined that new gel-filled implants, at the present time, should be available only to women participating in approved studies. Some women requiring replacement of the implants may also be eligible to participate in the study.

During the Breast Augmentation Surgery, the method of inserting and positioning your implant will depend on your anatomy and your surgeon's recommendation. The incision can be made either in the crease where the breast meets the chest, around the areola (the dark skin surrounding the nipple), or in the armpit. Every effort will be made to assure that the incision is placed so resulting scars will be as inconspicuous as possible.

Working through the incision, the surgeon will lift your breast tissue and skin to create a pocket, either directly behind the breast tissue or underneath your chest wall muscle (the pectoral muscle). The implants are then centered beneath your nipples.

The surgery usually takes one to two hours to complete. Stitches are used to close the incisions, which may also be taped for greater support. A gauze bandage may be applied over your breasts to help with healing.

You're likely to feel tired and sore for a few days following your surgery, but you'll be up and around in 24 to 48 hours. Most of your discomfort can be controlled by medication prescribed by your doctor. You should be able to return to work within a few days, depending on the level of activity required for your job. Your scars will be firm and pink for at least six weeks. Then they may remain the same size for several months, or even appear to widen. After several months, your scars will begin to fade, although they will never disappear completely.

As with any surgery procedure it is extremely important to consult with a specialist such as Female cosmetic surgeon Dr Beverly Friedlander, MD. Make Sure you have all your questions answered and you fully understand the risks of your chosen procedure BEFORE you have your surgery. Proper research and making an educated ecision can mean the difference between a successful procedure and a nightmare.

Changing Facial Symmetry with Nose Surgery

Rhinoplasty is usually performed under twilight or general anesthesia in an outpatient setting. In most procedures, the skin of the nose is lifted away from the bone and cartilage framework beneath, which is then shaped and sculpted as desired. (Some doctors elect to make the incision from inside the nose, depending on the nature of the surgery.) The skin is then re-draped over the "new" framework, and a splint is applied to help your nose maintain its new form. In some cases, nasal packs or soft splints may be inserted in the nostrils to provide additional stability.

Following surgery, bruising, swelling and discomfort can be expected, but all can be alleviated with cold compresses and medication prescribed by your doctor. (The most visible swelling and bruising are usually gone within two weeks.) Splints, stitches and packing are removed in about a week, and you can usually return to work or non-strenuous activities within a week or two. Strenuous activities may be resumed within four to six weeks.

Of all plastic surgery procedures, nose enhancement, or rhinoplasty, is among the most common. Nose enhancement surgery can be performed on any part of the nose, to increase or reduce its size; to modify the size and shape of the nostrils, tip or bridge of the nose; or to alter the slope or angle of the nose.
