Foot Care Is Important To Maintaining A Healthy Lifestyle

A very common health issue these days is foot pain. With longer workdays, and many jobs requiring people to be on their feet for a large portion of their work day, most of us will experience foot pain at one point or another in our lives. There are different types of foot pain that occurs in all places of the foot including the toes, ball, arch, instep, sole, heel, and ankle. As we age, the frequency and severity of foot pain generally increases such as ankle sprains and bone spurs.

The foot is divided into three main parts: forefoot, midfoot, and hindfoot. The forefoot is made up of the toes and the long bones that connect the toes to the foot, also referred to as metatarsals. The midfoot, more commonly referred to as the 'arch' of the foot, is comprised of five tarsal bones that are connected to the fore and hind foot with muscles and ligaments. The hindfoot, or as most refer to it , the "heel" and consists of three joints that connect the midfoot and ankle, including the heel bone. The treatment for each part of the foot depends on the condition and the techniques used by your podiatrist.

Breast Augmentation in Southern California

Breast Augmentation is quite popular these days, and it is only becoming more popular as time passes. Plastic surgeons are working every day to advance the safety of these procedures as well as creating much more stunning results. Says Santa Monica California Plastic Surgeon Dr Kao of breast augmentation surgery "I like to take into consideration the woman's body type when discussing the size and type of the breast implant. The width of the shoulder and the chest wall have a very important barring on how a particular breast implant will look on a particular woman and the waistline is critical to the size of the breast implant I recommend. "

Equally important for the plastic surgeon to consider are the height and body weight of the patient. Dr Kao's goal for breast augmentation surgery is to create contour that is elegant and pleasing. A well shaped breast is one that gives curves to a woman that is balanced with the waist and hips, without being distracting, uncomfortable and looking awkward in clothing.

What About Liposuction?

What about liposuction? Is it a realistic option for a person who wants to rid him or herself of unwanted weight? Not necessarily. Liposuction surgery is not intended, nor should it be used as a replacement for proper diet and exercise. A good candidate for liposuction surgery is in good overall shape, within 10-20 lbs of his or her ideal weight, and wants to treat the stubborn pockets of fat that are not responding to a regular diet and exercise regimen.

The person should be healthy, both physically and psychologically with realistic expectations about the results of the surgery procedure. The fat removed during a liposuction surgery procedure will not re-accumulate in the treated areas in the same manner as it did prior to the surgery, and in some cases, may leave small scars.

It is popular for women see a plastic surgeon and request liposuction surgery after childbirth. These women have returned to their pre-pregnancy weight, and have some areas of their body with stubborn fat as a result of the pregnancy. Many of these women also find that post pregnancy exercise and diet do not effectively treat the pockets of fat. One common place where many women retain fat is around the outer hips and thighs. These women are ideal candidates because the fat is localized, and is less difficult to remove the fat and sculpt the surrounding area to create the contour the patient desires.

Nose Reshaping Can Harmonize Facial Features

Most people don't realize that the basic techniques for performing cosmetic rhinoplasty (nose reshaping) originated from reconstructive plastic surgery. The first operation closely resembling "modern" cosmetic rhinoplasty was developed by a plastic surgeon in 1845! Since then, many refinements to the technique of nose reshaping have occurred, allowing for the wonderful results we see in cosmetic surgery today.

Stories in the media have claimed that teenagers are flocking to plastic surgeons to have their noses done, but in reality this procedure is performed very selectively. Teenagers who have the physical and emotional maturity for cosmetic surgery may undergo rhinoplasty as early as 14 or 15, or possibly older for boys. There is no upper age limit for rhinoplasty surgery, as long as you are in good health. Nose reshaping is sometimes performed in conjunction with a facelift or other rejuvenative surgery to correct aging changes of the nose such as a drooping tip.

The goal of rhinoplasty, at any age, is a natural-looking nose that achieves a harmonious balance with your other facial features. In the earlier days of rhinoplasty, patients and their surgeons tended to think in terms of an "ideal" nose, and this ideal often varied only slightly from patient to patient. Today, plastic surgeons are sensitive to the unique aesthetics of each individual's appearance. This includes factors such as ethnicity and the strength of other facial features. Some patients are looking for only subtle improvements, while others desire more substantial changes in the appearance of their nose. An important part of your rhinoplasty consultation with your plastic surgeon is the discussion of your personal goals for surgery.

A Brow Lift Can Help Restore Youthful Vibrance

People who consider brow lift surgery may have noticed the effects of age, gravity, exposure to sunlight, and the stresses of life all taking their toll on a person's face. Muscles and other tissues may slowly begin to droop, causing the patient to look tired or sad. Such factors may affect an individual's confidence, leading them to seek their own brow lift.

A brow lift can help such individuals restore youthful vibrance and energy to the face. The effects of time are virtually undone to restore an individual's face and to remove many of the effects of time and aging. Plastic and cosmetic surgeons accomplish such effects by removing a portion of and tightening the muscles and other tissues that are causing the skin to droop. This not only helps to restore the physical appearance of the patient, but also restores self-confidence and respect to the patient.

A brow lift is a very individualized procedure in which your goals should be realistically determined and discussed with your plastic surgeon. Together you will determine what specific procedures will be performed. A brow lift is often performed in conjunction with other procedures such as a face lift, nose job, or eye surgery.

What Should You Expect From A Cosmetic Surgeon In Orange County?

As with any surgery, the single most important factor in the success of cosmetic surgery is the surgeon you select. Do not take this responsibility lightly. In most states, it is legal for any physician who holds a medical license, with or without surgical training, to advertise as a plastic or cosmetic surgeon. That is why it is essential for you to understand what makes a cosmetic surgeon qualified and research the qualifications of any surgeon that you are considering.

Dr. Dan Mills, a cosmetic surgeon in Orange County California, recommends you choose a doctor who is board certified and affiliated with a reputable hospital, and is up-to-date on what is new in his/her field. Does your doctor offer a variety of techniques? With the right doctor, Breast augmentation procedures can yield marked results.

Dr. Mills has been in practice for over 15 years, with an additional 10 years experience teaching plastic surgery at Loma Linda University, and combines a sense of aesthetics, his surgical skills, and the latest techniques to achieve the results his clients want. He feels it is crucial that his patients find his practice to be a safe and comfortable environment, as well.

"It's very important that you feel comfortable with your doctor," Dr. Mills explains. "You should be able to talk to him/her openly, expressing your concerns. Communication is key in a relationship with your doctor," especially when you're talking about what you want from the surgery.

Specialists Confirm Baggy Eyelids Make You Appear Older

We have all noticed the effects stress, environment and gravity have on our bodies as we age. No matter what age you are, as you get older, these changes naturally take place. Unfortunately we all live in a world hell bent on beauty and most people in the world will do almost anything to feel pretty or good looking. Employers have hired based on beauty, and others have discriminated based on outward appearance. However, this isn't the only reason people undergo plastic surgery; there are also health benefits. There are a lot of websites and sources of information to find plastic and cosmetic surgery information. In my research I found a surgeon who specializes in plastic surgery not only for beauty, but also for the health benefits and helping to improve quality of life for his clients and patients.

One of the most popular procedures perfomed for health benefits is Eyelid surgery or Blepharoplasty. As we age, our upper and lower eyelids can saga nd lose thier elasticity, creating bags around our eyes. In severe cases the ptosis(drooping) of the upper eyelids can actually obscure vision and pose a potential for problems with vision during normal activites.

The Eyelid surgery procedure provides a rejuvenation for the areas around your eyes, and helps to restore a youthful look and thus helping the patient to regain confidence and self esteem.

The Basics Of Breast Enhancement Surgery

There have been varying viewpoints throughout the years about the best kind of implant to use for Breast Augmentation, and health controversies about one kind of implant that dominated news reports in the 1990's. Many women who were interested in having fuller breasts were fearful to do so because of these reports. The following describes the different kinds of implants that are available, and addresses some of the concerns regarding differences between breast implant fill material, shape, surface texture, size, manufacture, and use of implants.

While there are a number of implants available for Breast Augmentation, currently the most commonly used is the saline breast implant. The saline implant has an exterior sack made of solid silicone, which is filled with a sterile saline solution — like the salt-water solution that is administered for intravenous fluids. One of the advantages of this solution is its safety. Should the implant for some reason leak, the saline just gets absorbed by your body, as would the intravenous fluids used during, and after surgery. Yet another advantage of the saline implants is a very low infection rate, which is usually less than one to two percent.

As with any surgical procedure, it is imperative that you consult with an experienced specialist such as Southern California Plastic Surgeon Dr Michael Schwartz prior to the surgery. Be sure to have all your questions answered and you fully understand your chosen procedure BEFORE you have it. Proper research and education and mean the difference between a night mare and a successful surgery.
