A Declining Economy Taking Its Toll On Popular Plastic Surgery Procedures

With the current economy money is tight and many people are cutting back on their spending, which in turn affects nearly every industry in the United States, and in some cases, the world. The cosmetic surgery industry has hit harder than other industries. This is most likely due tot he fact that most every plastic or cosmetic surgery procedure performed today is considered an elective surgery- or in other words- not a necessary surgery procedure required to maintain life.

Over the past few years, the plastic and cosmetic surgery industry has experienced a steep decline in the number of all procedures performed, but especially the very popular procedures such as Breast enhancement, Body contouring procedures such as liposuction and Abdominoplasty. In reality, it is no real secret why these ever-popular surgical procedures have suddenly become less popular. elective surgeries such as these can cost thousands of dollars, and most people are looking for less expensive solutions for looking younger.

Breast Augmentation Can Enhance Your Appearance And Self Esteem

Breast augmentation with implants is a surgical procedure that can enhance your appearance by providing a more aesthetically pleasing contour to your body. This plastic surgery procedure can also boost self-confidence, and improve self image and self confidence. This procedure will not however, change your appearance to be an exact match for your ideal, nor will it cause other people to treat you differently than they would treat you before surgery.

Prior to your decision to have plastic surgery, you should give serious thought to your expectations of the surgery results, do research and learn as much as you can about the procedures you are interested in, and make sure that you thoroughly discuss these things with your plastic surgeon.

Preoperative Planning with Computer Simulation

With all of the advancements in plastic surgery procedure techniques and the technology employed, procedures are becoming safer, and surgeons are now able to better predict the results. California plastic surgeon Dr Craig Creasman does exactly that with a new technology for breast augmentation surgery called 4-d Simulation. This technology is aimed at aiding in the pre-operative planning stage of the surgery.

Dr Creasman states"I discuss surgical options with my patients using this new computer imaging, which can demonstrate the changes I would suggest for the changes we would make during the surgery. Using this technology, 4-D images can be obtained in short time, which I then manipulate to give an educated estimate of what might a patients breasts will look like after breast augmentation surgery. This system also allows for more flexibility in the choice of breast implant, which helps to create a more personalized result. "

Though this technology is not a guarantee or warranty of the proposed surgical result, it does help to provide the patient and the surgeon with a visual communication aid. This is important because it allows the patient to give the doctor feedback and allows the surgeon an opportunity to convey to the patient the limitations of what can be done, as well as the possible results. It is very important for the patient to visualize how she will look with the breasts she desires, and this system becomes an educational tool in with which the patient can view the result third-party, rather than just listening to the surgeon visualizing the results while standing in front of a mirror with a breast implant held up to her body.

Breast Augmentation Surgery Explained

Breast augmentation is a procedure used to enlarge small breasts and create a balance for breasts of different size or proportion. Breast implants are used to add fullness to breasts that have decreased in size or begun to sag due to age or pregnancy.

Breast implant options basically can be narrowed down to two types: silicone gel and saline (or salt water) filled. Most breast enlargement procedures use saline-filled implants; although some situations still warrant the use of silicone gel implants for best results. Recent advantages in implant technologies offer options that create a more natural look than ever before.

It remains that with any elective cosmetic surgery, it is very important for women considering this procedure to be given informed consent. This means that anyone considering having permanent implantation of a medical device is made aware not only of the risks of the operation itself, but also of the lifelong risks of having implants.

Be sure to consult with a plastic surgeon, and do your research to ensure you fully understand the procedure, its risks and what to expect from the surgery. There are many excellent websites offering up information on breast augmentation. The best website I have found in my research is Lookingyourbest.com - a free to use website that provides a great amount of in depth plastic surgery information and there is even a free service to help anyone considering breast augmentation locate a skilled , experienced and qualified plastic surgeon in their area.

Breast Augmentation Basics

One decision more and more women are making everyday is to have cosmetic surgery in particular breast enhancement surgery (a procedure to enhance the size of your breasts by using implants – saline implants or silicone implants.) Implants are indicated for females where the patient is at least 18 years of age, and for reconstruction of the female breast. A plastic surgeon is able to increase a woman's bust line by one or more bra cup sizes. Advances in technology and surgical technique are making cosmetic surgery a popular option among women of all ages desiring a change in the way they look. The decision to undergo breast enhancement surgery may result in a more flattering, better proportioned figure, more clothing options, and may enhance your confidence and self-esteem.

Many women desiring breast augmentation never fully developed and have been self-conscious of their appearance since youth. Others have had children and noticed significant shrinkage and sagging of the breast tissue following childbirth or breast-feeding. Other still just simply want an enlargement or have more fullness to the breasts. All these women have the desire to look proportional and feel attractive.

Most women know that they want to look better, but they don't know how to get there. If they are happy with the position of the breasts are, usually a breast implant is the answer. If they start to have some droop to the breast, then the recommendations may change depending on how much droop there is.

Make sure you consult with a plastic surgeon and do your research prior to undergoing breast augmentation surgery. Ensure all your questions are answered and you fully understand the surgery procedure. Non Invasive Procedures Are Becoming More Popular

With economy in its current state, many are reducing their spending, which affects almost every industry in the United States. The Cosmetic and plastic surgery industry has seen a bigger drop off than most other industries and this is due to the fact that most every plastic or cosmetic procedure available is to be considered an elective surgical procedure, and are not deemed necessary to a healthy lifestyle.

Recent trends have shown a quite noticeable reduction of the most popular plastic surgery procedures - Breast Augmentation surgery, Body contouring procedures such as liposuction and tummy tuck surgery, and face lift surgery have all seen a decline in the overall number of these procedures performed. Of Course is no secret why these popular procedures have recently become less popular. All of these elective surgery procedures can cost thousands of dollars, and most people interested in finding beauty through cosmetic surgery are now looking for less expensive solutions for looking younger.

Experts in the cosmetic surgery profession, such as Hawaii Plastic surgeon Dr de los Reyes, recommend less invasive procedures to achieve that youthful look without breaking the bank. These procedures include the ever popular BOTOX treatments, Chemical peels, and other facial rejuvenation procedures such as microdermabrasion, and laser skin resurfacing.

What You Should Know About Breast Implants

A lot of people these days are well aware of the popularity of Breast Augmentation surgery. What most do not realize is that there are different types of breast implants, and each type has its own use and application, depending on the preferences of the patient, her surgeon and lastly, the technique used for the placement of the implants also has some bearing over the choice of implant used.

The saline breast implant has an exterior shell made of solid silicone, which is filled with a sterile saline solution much like the salt-water solution that is administered for intravenous fluids during and after a surgical procedure. One of the advantages of this saline solution is its safety. Should a saline implant leak, the saline solution is absorbed by your body, just as the intravenous fluids would. Another notable advantage of saline breast implants is a very low infection rate, which has been reported to be less than two percent.

The silicone implants are filled with a silicone gel surrounded by a solid silicone shell. More than one million women in America currently have silicone breast implants. Some feel that the silicone implant results in a more natural appearing breast.

Cohesive gel implants (commonly referred to as the "gummy bear" implant) are silicone implants that are filled with a thicker silicone gel that will hold its shape and form much like a "gummy bear" candy. If you were to cut open a standard gel implant, the liquid silicone gel leaks out of the implant shell. However, when you cut into a cohesive gel implant, the implant itself maintains its shape and integrity and the thicker silicone gel does not leak out. These shaped implants were designed with a focus upon a natural look, rather than for the sole purpose of breast enlargement. "Gummy bear" implants maintain their shape in an upright position, which decreases the incidence of the implants shell folding or rippling. If a cohesive gel implant ruptures, it maintains both its shape and integrity.

When electing to have breast implant surgery, one should always consult with a plastic surgeon prior to the surgical procedure. This is an important step and one that should not be taken lightly. As with any surgical procedure, there is some level of risk, and it is important that anyone considering Breast Augmentation surgery become informed of the risks involved, and that person fully understand the procedure, and be realistic about the results.

Cosmetic Surgeon in Utah

Cosmetic surgery in Lindon"It is absolutely necessary to take every step possible to ensure a safe outcome," points out Utah cosmetic surgeon, Kimball M. Crofts. Safe and artfully skilled cosmetic surgery leads to well sculpted bodies and happy patients, but the key to great plastic surgery, he notes, is first identifying what is desired. Once the right goals are chosen, the process of selecting the best course of action becomes considerably easier.

Dr. Crofts, his office in Lindon, Utah, defines cosmetic surgery as a "surgical art of restoration and enhancement." Because of the numerous advances in technique and technology, effects of the sun, age, wear and tear, gravity, trauma, child birth, and weight loss can more and more frequently be counteracted through surgery. Dr. Crofts performs a wide variety of surgical and non-surgical treatments both to restore and to enhance.

What Should I Know About Breast Augmentation?

The Breast Augmentation Surgery Procedure explained:
Many women have made the choice to create the shape they have always dreamed of through breast enhancement surgery. Confident, sensual and beautiful-simply more of what you already are.

In short, a Beast Augmentation Surgery is a procedure that enhances and increases the size of a woman's breasts utilizing a silicone or saline beast implant. The breast implants are placed under the muscle of the chest wall to improve breast shape, size, and position.

A plastic surgeon performs this procedure under general anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately one hour. A two inch incision is made in the crease underneath the breast and an implant is placed behind the chest wall muscle. The breast size is thus increased.

What to expect before the surgery procedure:
You will meet with your surgeon in consultation to discuss your goals and desired size. Your Doctor will examine you and possibly make suggestions about implant shape, size and type. All of your questions will be answered. Lab work will be ordered. You will be given a written fee quotation and allowed to select your surgery date if you desire.

Postprocedure:
Upon awakening in the recovery room, you will have an elastic bandage around your chest. You will be allowed to go home one to two hours following the procedure. Your surgeon will see you in the office approximately two days following the procedure and you will be placed in a sports bra. The sports bra should be worn for three weeks post-operatively. Most patients return to work at one to two weeks post surgery. No heavy activities or lifting is allowed for three weeks. Soreness usually resolves within three to five days. Bruising and swelling should be minimal.

As with an surgical procedure it is always a good idea to do your research and ensure you fully understand the procedure before going 'under the knife". Making sure you understand the surgery, its risks and having realistic expectations about the results will help to make the surgery a success. There are man resources available to those considering having a plastic surgery procedure. Numerous websites on the internet provide good information about beast augmentation. The best site I have found is lookingyourbest.com- a free website offering a wealth of plastic surgery information, including a free service to help you locate a skilled, experienced and qualified plastic surgeon in our area.

Types of Breast Implants

Saline Breast Implants - The saline implant has an exterior sack made of solid silicone, which is filled with a sterile saline solution — like the salt-water solution that is administered for intravenous fluids. One of the advantages of this solution is its safety. Should the implant for some reason leak, the saline just gets absorbed by your body, as would the intravenous fluids used during, and after surgery. Yet another advantage of the saline breast implants is a very low infection rate, which is usually less than one to two percent.

Silicone Breast Implants - These are implants that are filled with a silicone gel. More than 1.5 million American women currently have silicone breast implants. Some people feel that the silicone implant results in a more natural appearing breast.

Cohesive Gel Implants - Cohesive gel implants are silicone implants that are filled with a thicker silicone gel that holds its shape and form like a "gummy bear." If you cut into a standard gel implant, the liquid silicone gel escapes from the implant shell. In contrast, when you cut into a cohesive gel implant, the implant itself maintains its shape and integrity. These shaped implants are designed with a focus upon a natural look, rather than for enlargement. Furthermore, gummy bear implants maintain their shape in an upright position that decreases the incidence of folding of the implant shell or rippling. If a cohesive gel implant ruptures, it maintains both its shape and integrity.

Los Angeles Breast Enhancement

Cohesive gel breast implants, also known as "gummy bear" implants thanks to the implant gel's similarity to the candy, enjoy considerable popularity in Europe. These natural-looking and -feeling implants are still being investigated by the FDA, and so are only available from a few surgeons in the United States. Dr. Steven Teitelbaum is one of these surgeons, and he has been utilizing cohesive gel breast implants in Los Angeles since 2000.

Breast enhancement is a highly personal procedure, both emotionally and physically, and realistic expectations are important. So, too, is a doctor who will carefully listen to his patient's goals, honestly educate her about any limitations her own individual physiology will present, and work together with her to reach the best result possible. Dr. Teitelbaum can help you plan your Los Angeles breast augmentation procedure.

Breast Lift Surgery - Is It Right for You?

The passage of time is not kind to the human face. We spend our youth as though good looks will always be there for us. Then we grow up and before you know it things start to sag. It seems cruel for life to let the fullness out of a woman's breasts when she loses weight or has children, or simply has the nerve to get older.

Enter modern medicine, which provides at least a little bit of a reprieve from the droop. Breast lift surgery removes some of the excess skin which is allowing the breast tissue to droop. By tightening up the skin, and sometimes adding implants, the breasts are lifted to a perkier, more youthful position.

As in the case of any surgery, a breast lift comes with its share of risks as well as rewards, and is not right for everyone. Scheduling a consultation with an experienced, board-certified plastic surgeon such as Dr. Manjit Brar of Vancouver Washington can help you decide if a breast lift is the right solution for you.

4D Simulations are personalizing Breast Implant Surgery

After examining your breasts, your surgeon will generally want to discuss your surgical options with you using this new computer imaging, which can demonstrate for you the changes he would suggest for your breasts. 4-D images will be obtained very quickly, which he can then manipulate to show an educated estimate of what might be achievable with surgery, with the ability to vary the implant choice.

Though this is not to be implied as a warranty of the surgical result, it does provide a visual communication aid both for you to give the doctor your feedback and for him to convey to you the limitations of what can be done, as well as the possibilities. It is important to see how one actually looks with the breasts you think you want, and it becomes an educational process to view the result as a third party, rather than just leaving it to the verbalization of the plastic surgeon while looking in a mirror with an implant held up to your body.
